How to add hold music to 3CX

The steps

  1. 1Log in to the 3CX Admin Console.
  2. 2Go to Settings → Music on Hold.
  3. 3Upload your 8 kHz WAV (up to 10 files), or point it at a folder to build a playlist.
  4. 4Optionally assign the file or playlist to specific Call Queues, Call Parking, or Conferencing.
Format gotcha

3CX only accepts WAV PCM, 8 kHz, 16-bit, mono, under 10 MB — a normal 44.1 kHz or stereo WAV is rejected. The “WAV · 8 kHz” download here is already in spec.

Or skip the hold entirely
