How to add hold music to Zoom Phone

4 steps · about 5 min

The steps

  1. 1Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin.
  2. 2Go to Phone System Management → Assets Library, click Add, then the Upload tab.
  3. 3Name the asset, set Category to “Music on hold / Music on park,” pick a language, upload your MP3 or WAV, set Visibility to Asset Library (Public), then Add.
  4. 4Assign it: Phone → Settings → Others → Hold Music → Edit → Choose from Asset Library. (Call queues have their own separate Music on Hold setting.)
Format gotcha

You can't upload straight from the Hold Music screen — the file has to exist in the Assets Library first. Files must be MP3 or WAV under 10 MB, and parked calls can't be customized.

Or skip the hold entirely

Hold music makes waiting nicer. It doesn't answer the call. Lobby does — a warm AI receptionist that picks up 24/7, in English and Spanish, so callers never wait on hold in the first place.
