How to add hold music to RingCentral
The steps
- 1Sign in to the RingCentral Admin Portal.
- 2Go to Phone System → Groups → Call Queues and open the queue callers reach on your main line.
- 3Click Greeting & Hold Music, then under Music settings enable “Waiting in queue music” and/or “Hold music” and click Edit under each.
- 4In the Set Audio dropdown choose Custom, upload your file, click Done, then Save.
Format gotcha
The Hold music toggle under a single user's extension only plays for calls that employee personally answers and holds — it does nothing for callers waiting on the main line. For that you must set it on the Call Queue.
Or skip the hold entirely
Hold music makes waiting nicer. It doesn't answer the call. Lobby does — a warm AI receptionist that picks up 24/7, in English and Spanish, so callers never wait on hold in the first place.
